The beauty industry has seen rapid evolution in technology and techniques over the last decade as the race towards graceful aging continues. The Founders of New York based, Katan Klinic, Katherine Amato, LE and Natasa Billeci, RN, BSN, C-HWC, have participated in this evolution using a transformational philosophy that embraces the science and art of beauty and aging well. The result: precision beauty regimes that evolve with you for a lifetime.
“Your skin is the most forward-facing feature you have. Let’s make it iconic.”
FWM: You founded Katan after over 20 years of combined experience in the field of Aesthetic Medicine. What led you to launch Katan?
The one size fits all approach to skin health doesn’t stand the test of time. We have often heard stories of clients being highly disappointed by a top-selling product or treatment that just didn’t seem to work for them. Without understanding their specific skin needs, building an intelligent and effective skin care regime was challenging and costly. As beauty industry veterans, we recognized that these perspectives were echoed in both global and consumer perspectives regarding skin health and skin care. In an effort to be the change, we launched Katan from a place of passion to educate clients and colleagues on the importance of celebrating individuality through a personalized approach to skin revision.
FWM: The beauty industry has seen rapid evolution in technology and techniques over the last decade as the race towards graceful aging continues. What is your secret?
Skin trends, technological innovation, and treatments will always be present in the beauty industry. It’s what drives knowledge and expands our professional toolkit. At Katan, we thoughtfully investigate each of these innovations to determine whether they are one-hit wonders or rooted in actual skin science. Our secret to winning the race is to stay grounded in a client-centered and science-based approach to skin care. The results are transformational and sustainable because we engage the client in building regimes that are less about trends and more about the science of their unique needs.
FWM: Why are clients coming to you today?
Our clients are seeking less hype and more realistic regimes. Although you may not want to hear that a cult product or treatment is not the best choice, our philosophy is to educate and customize a regime that reveals your best you. Skin is as personal and unique as a signature fragrance, so we build trust by tailoring every program to each client’s skin condition and lifestyle with precision and the goal of helping them age gracefully.
FWM: You have used a transformational philosophy that embraces the science and art of beauty and aging well. Share your successes.
Transformation happens on multiple levels with our clients. We relish in the gratitude and shift in a client’s attitude when they begin to see the changes happening not only on the outside but the inside as well. Being that there is a deeper and more complex root to every dysfunction or condition, skin evolution begins by analyzing attitudes, health status, and nutrition. We encourage and empower our clients to take an active role in their transformation. It’s not about a magic treatment with a secret elixir that we deliver in office. It’s so much more than that. When a client commits to consistency and recognizes their capacity to look and feel better for a lifetime, it impacts other aspects of their lives. Something as simple as revising a skin condition can reignite passion to achieve life goals. We see this often and it is a great source of inspiration for us.
How are you continuing to follow CDC and New York State Guidelines to protect clients from exposure in your clinic?
Our office continues to adhere to all CDC and NYS guidelines to keep clients safe during their time with us. We are regularly tested using the PCR test to ensure we are able to safely engage with patients given the intimate nature of our services. For those that do not feel comfortable with an in-person visit until the flu season is over, our consultations are conducted in a virtual manner as we act as skin coaches from afar. In the office, we continue to consistently disinfect between client visits, practice hand hygiene and screen all individuals who enter or leave our office. Client safety is of great importance and we encourage everyone who is even remotely under the weather to reschedule their appointment.
What are you looking forward to in 2021?
We will be launching a curated shop in 2021 that delivers a highly personalized skincare experience. As practitioners, we look forward to continuing our education regarding new techniques and technological advancements coming to the market. We are also very excited about the potential of exosomes to revolutionize skin revision and continue to work with our skin care partners to learn more about how we can integrate its’ power into future client skin regimes.
