International Speaker Crystal Chinn is Helping Women to Heal

FWM: We’re so happy to catch up with you! Please… Introduce yourself to our audience.

CC: My name is Crystal Chinn, Founder of Woman Be Healed, Licensed Minister and International Speaker.

FWM: What circumstances led you to your industry?

CC: I went through a traumatic experience in my marriage that caused me to question everything I thought I knew about God, life, family and myself. I am a born again believer. We like to say we are saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost, but when I went through this trial I could not even pray. I felt like God abandoned me. I felt God turned his back on me and I couldn’t understand why he would allow something so devastating to happen to me. Although I couldn’t pray, it was during that time, God gave me a strategy to get through one of the most tumultuous times in my life. I wanted to share my healing journey with others mainly because therapy is kind of demonized in our culture and although I do not consider my program therapy, it is therapeutic. I also had to recognize there was a separation that had to take place between my emotions, my experience and my covenant.

I don’t believe anyone would disagree with the notion that Marriage is Forever! At least the original intent of it right? Hence the statement “till death do us part.” So since that’s the case, that would mean regardless of what happens there is a level of maturity, self-examination, a great deal of humility and an even greater deal of healing that would have to take place for me to get to the point of honoring my covenant to God about marriage. So I wanted to help women heal because when you are healed you respond differently, when you’re healed you see things differently and when you’re healed you are more likely to make a more rational decision instead of an emotional one.

I used my personal experience as a way to provide a service for other women that have gone through trauma in their marriage.

FWM: How did you decide to make it your own?

CC: I used my personal experience as a way to provide a service for other women that have gone through trauma in their marriage. The first year I hosted a conference called Woman Be Healed~Overcoming Marital Infidelity. There were women that showed up to the conference that weren’t married and benefited from the substance of the conference and wanted to stay connected. That led me to start an academy and make Woman Be Healed a little more inclusive. This change was necessary because the principles I teach can be applied to any kind of Trauma and not just in marriage.

FWM: What has been your greatest challenge in your industry?

CC: Women not wanting to talk about their ordeal or too afraid to confront the emotions. I remember when I was too embarrassed to talk about it as well. However, I found out once I started to talk about it, is when my freedom began and ultimately my healing. My silence was keeping me in bondage.

Why? I believe it’s because when you begin to talk about your trauma, you’re vulnerable. Most people have built up a wall as a defense mechanism to the trauma to never become vulnerable again. When you begin to speak you are exposing yourself, allowing different feelings and emotions to rise again and the truth is you are unsure where it will land you. I also believe it’s a matter of women not knowing who they can trust with their trauma as well. Woman Be Healed is a safe place, a non judgmental place and equally important a non-bashing place. The reality is most people want their marriage to survive even if some unideal circumstances have taken place. We live in a culture that pushes a narrative of divorce so it’s hard for women to openly express their desire for their marriage to win while simultaneously battling with the devastation.

Questions about people involved in her journey

FWM: Who else has helped you evolve into the person you are today?

CC: My parents, my children, my husband, my grandfather and my coaches. I realized I was gifted, but I didn’t know how to tap into my gifts. There are a few people that helped me. I get my drive from my mother, she has this saying “if you’re going to do it, then do it! In other words leave no stone unturned when you do things and do it in excellence. My coaches have imparted knowledge into me and trained me to obtain a skillset that has helped me in my business, ministry and marriage. I was unsure how my husband would feel about me telling my story because in essence it’s our story. After a conversation with one of my coaches I asked him if he was ok with me sharing my story to empower other women and he said yes. He seemed a little uncomfortable to me. However, after my first conference he said I’m proud of you. It was at that moment I truly felt evolved.

FWM: Can you share a time that forces were working against you?

CC: During my whole healing journey! Trauma is real and you have to be emotionally intelligent so that you don’t fall into its trap. While I was healing the memories of what I experienced was so much a part of my daily life that I couldn’t focus on anything else. I literally rehearsed the hurt and the pain everyday for years.

How did you overcome the challenge? I spoke to the negative thoughts and told them to stop! I went to therapy. I used the strategies that God gave me and I practiced them over and over again. Most importantly I forgave!

Questions about your expertise

FWM: What sets you apart and makes you/your gift truly special?

CC: What sets me apart is my ability to separate emotion from the circumstance while also being empathetic. I have been called the voice of reason. I have the ability to see different perspectives from the same situation and build a positive acquisition. I believe in God being omnipotent and not making any mistakes. I believe when trials come, he has allowed them. I believe God has our best interest at heart and therefore has designed a way for us to be victorious. It’s up to us to find that way. That way begins on the inside of us. Before I ever deal with the external, I first deal with the internal. Most of the answers are there.

FWM: What’s next for you?

CC: My next Woman Be Healed 23′ Conference is coming up in August. Woman Be Healed Academy 3rd Cohort starts September 14, 2023. November 2023 I will be hosting a seminar called Rags to Rubies~Empowering women to become entrepreneurs by tapping into and following their dreams despite any stacked odds. I am organizing a prayer walk and demonstration for the City of Philadelphia to release a clarion call to stop gun violence and in December my non profit organization Here 2 Help Association will host our annual Toy Drive.
