An advocate for women, her lifestyle brand Hey Lady™ is changing the stigma of what women over forty look like. It features beautiful and powerful women who desire a passion for fashion, a love of travel, and an interest in owning or growing a business. The mission is to motivate, empower, and encourage them to live their best lives.
FWM: What led you to entrepreneurship?
I’ve been an entrepreneur for almost twenty years. The moment I realized my boss was never going to pay me enough to live next door to her is when I knew I needed to own my own business.
FWM: The Hey Lady™ brand is curated for ALL women over forty who have a passion for fashion, a love of travel, and entrepreneurship. How is the over forty demographic generally ignored and misrepresented by brands?
Most advertisers, Do Not Advertise to the over forty demographic. When they do, it’s typically in a monolithic manner. We are not ALL the same. Somewhere in an ad agency office they decided people over forty didn’t need to be “sold” to. Not realizing that our demographic has discretionary funds.
FWM: How is Hey Lady™ changing the narrative?
I wanted to create a platform where other women over forty could see themselves not just living BUT thriving. My Wine Down Wednesday series on YouTube showcases women from diverse backgrounds telling their journey of love, divorce, business etc.
FWM: Did your life begin at 40?
My life began AGAIN at forty. I moved to Los Angeles from Atlanta and started a new business. My insurance practice is now eleven years old.
FWM: Your book, Love Saw It has been described as a feel good yet complicated love story. Share your inspiration for your book.
I’ve always loved a good love story. The book tells a story of love at first sight and the unexpected twist and turns LOVE takes along the way. It takes place during the late 90’s which is my favorite period. It will challenge the readers moral code and leave them wanting more.

Let me tell you about “Love Saw It”… I generously give 5 stars! This book is a great escape into a “love story” reminiscent of a 90’s R&B love song! Enjoy the journey as each character will instigate memories of that “someone” you once knew. However, hold on to your seat… as Ms. LaeTania serves up the entertainingly unexpected in “Love Saw it!”

OH MY GOODNESS!!! This was definitely a page turner. I was truly involved and invested in all of the characters. I read it in about 3.5 hours, I couldn’t put it down! I don’t want to give anything away but this is a MUST READ! Can’t wait for the sequel (hint, hint).

Love Saw It immediately pulled me in which is rare for a fiction novel. I loved that the story as written shared the story of the parallel Iives of multiple, intersected characters. In the realm of black fiction, this book stands out as an amazing find by an amazing author.
FWM: Does getting what you want often come at a price?
We can definitely have what we want. However, we may not get what we want WHEN we want it at the same time. Oftentimes, we make sacrifices to get what we desire. Which means someone or something may be put on hold for a small period of time.
FWM: What lessons have you learned during your career?
It’s better to try and fail then to never try at all. Most people never try.
