From Welfare to Winning-Dr. Cozette M. White defied all obstacles with her 6-figure tax business, My Financial Home Enterprises, LLC

Dr. Cozette M. White, Managing Partner for My Financial Home Enterprises, LLC, is an entrepreneur that has discovered how to grow and maintain a profitable business. Dr. White didn’t come from an entrepreneurial background but learned lessons through her many wins and losses. Dr. White discussed how she positioned herself to transition from welfare to winning by unlocking the code to her 6-figure tax business!

FWM: Thank you Dr. White for this opportunity. Please introduce yourself to our readers.

Dr. CW: I’m Dr. Cozette M. White, a 6x bestselling authors, nationally recognized advisory accountant and tax expert, international speaker and philanthropist. I’ve been coined the “Financial Physician” as a result of my unparalleled ability to diagnose and boost the financial health of organizations and families.

I’m the founder and CEO of My Financial Home Enterprises, a certified woman owned small business global financial firm providing comprehensive accounting, tax and business management services. My firm has helped thousands of clients build their own successful companies and realize their dream of running their own mini-empires. I created the company after having numerous conversations with small business owners about the importance of designing a financial blueprint and seeing so many of her colleagues start businesses that failed.

FWM: Why are you so passionate about the work you do?

Dr. CW: I love working with my clients. I am thrilled when clients tell me they have eliminated debt or started contributing to a retirement fund or tapped into smart ways to diversify their portfolio. I get excited because I know I am the force behind their efforts. I am sure they can feel the energy in my voice!

FWM: Why is it that you have a passion for working with women?

Dr. CW: I am a champion for women. I once read an article that stated women are now the breadwinners in 40% of American households. This trend has been on the rise for years. Out of the 40% of women breadwinners, nearly two-thirds are single mothers. However, married mothers are still bringing in more money. Of married women, 24% are now the breadwinner. Of these statistics, the vast majority of the women were not taught to be SMART with their finances. It is for this of many reasons that I wrote Smart Finances, For Smart People. With relevant statistical data, it is imperative that I educate and empower women to manage their finances effectively. I feel it is my responsibility to be the change agent that impacts households headed by women. After all, as a single mother and the head of my household, I know first-hand how important this is.

FWM: What advice would you give to others?

Dr. CW: The two things I will leave with readers are to ‘Always Pay Yourself First’ and to establish a ritual of reading. Always paying yourself first is one of the oldest rules of personal finance. However, it is not applied as frequently as it should. It pays for your freedom, so why avoid rewarding yourself? When you pay yourself first, you are mentally establishing wealth saving as a priority. You are establishing that you are worthy of yourself before anything else. It encourages financial habits, and you are building a cash buffer. Secondly, I need you to establish a ritual of reading. Yes, read books focused on money and finances. You have heard the saying, “Iron sharpens irons.” Reading sharpens the mind. When I was overcoming my hurdles, I read personal finance books and articles to sharpen my knowledge of growing wealthy.

FWM: What can you tell the readers regarding success?

Dr. CW: Be the captain of your ship. Use the navigation system to archer and position yourself for a blessing. Start by positioning your mind, attitude, action and words. Speak wealth into existence. Do not allow excuses to be your stumbling block. Have faith, believe, and know that there is light at the end of every tunnel. Have confidence. Know that we are God’s children, and He will always care and watch over us. Things may not happen when we want them to. However, as long as we put in the work and do what we are supposed to do, our Father is going to take care of us. Just know that when we fall, He will be there to pick us up. Remember…”Never Give Up!”
