Jossie Ochoa Coming Back Into the Limelight

Beauty and hard work are not foreign words to multifaceted It Girl, Jossie Ochoa. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jossie has always embodied what it means to be a self-starter and the proof is in her work. From competing in well-known pageants, working for Univision, hosting, modeling, starting a nonprofit at an early age, and having her own brand, Jossie is an exemplary figure of what being a boss babe is all about. In 2014, she competed in Univision’s Nuestra Belleza Latina, representing Guatemala, and was the runner up for her season as she dazzled viewers at home. This opened multiple doors for Jossie in Univision as she suddenly saw herself being immersed into the entertainment world. Right after competing she began to do a lot of hosting, red carpet, modeling, and back-to-back events in Miami. She is the owner of JossieStyle, a lifestyle brand that she launched in 2019 dedicated to woman who are seeking to boost their confidence.

FWM: Tell us about your modeling career.

I started modeling at age 16 and it has opened so many opportunities in my life. It has made me appreciate art, fashion, music, culture, and the business behind the industry overall. I’ve been able to do runway, print, commercial modeling and even beauty pageants thanks to my modeling career. Thanks to those experiences I have been able to travel and discover so many worlds.

FWM: What is it about the limelight that you enjoy the most?

I enjoy being able to learn and share experiences especially in this era that we live always on social media, connecting with my following has always been something I enjoy.

FWM: Can you share a few favorite shoots?

Some of my favorite shoots have definitely been with very talented artists and brands. My most memorable was when my photo print was on a billboard on the Sunset strip for a Justin Bieber and Retna cover art shoot. I remember being Retnas muse for his painting for the cover of the album Purpose and seeing my print on a billboard was iconic!! I remember my behind the scene footage being shared on TMZ as the “Golden Girl” at the time I was 23 years old and all of this was new to me. Another one would be shoot I had for Colgate a toothpaste brand because it was a challenge where we had to model upside down and I was chosen as one of the best upside-down photos for the campaign nationwide. Overall, I love any shoot that involves fashion, art and creativity.

FWM: Tell us about JossieStyle. What led you to launch your brand?

JossieStyle is a lifestyle brand that I launched in 2019 dedicated to woman who are seeking to boost their confidence. I have always considered myself a businesswoman and have had different businesses online, but I always wanted to start my own personal brand. Ever since I started sharing my tips and tricks for my wellness & fitness journey I had a lot of girls message me asking about my gym attire or accessories. So, at the time I decided to look into selling my own. Waist trainers were my first product since they were high in demand and till this day it’s our number one seller. Now we sell loungewear, activewear and more gym accessories that will help you with your workouts and everyday wear. As my brand grows my vision is to continue adding other wellness products and tools that will help women’s daily lifestyle bringing us closer to our goals.

FWM: How did Univision open doors for you?

I always say Univision was like a University for me that I graduated from. I was able to learn so much about TV production, hosting, acting, performing you name it and immediately had me putting my skills into action. They had me on the biggest platform for Spanish networks and thanks to their platform I was able to jumpstart my career at age 21 not only in the US but Central America and Mexico.

FWM: Tell us about your non-profit organization, Misión Guatemala. Why is this so important to you?

Both of my parents are Guatemalan so since I was very young, we would travel to Guatemala and always give back to those in need. I started my non-profit organization at age 23 after being very involved with the Guatemalan community. It was always a part of my goal to one day have my own organization but thanks to gaining recognition through the pageant world (I was Miss Guatemala US at the time ) people trusted me and helped me start this organization. We have been able to donate, raise money and build homes in needed villages during natural disasters or emergencies. My favorite part is seeing the smiles on kids’ faces when they receive gifts or school supplies. It has been a blessing to give back to our communities. I will love to continue to do this for more communities.
