Nishi Singhal: Inner Voice Facilitator, Yoga Teacher and Author of a children’s book on intuition.

Nishi Singhal is helping women live with presence and act with joy so that they can feel worthy, fulfilled and courageously live the life they want guilt-free!

FWM: As an Inner Voice Facilitator you serve women who are burnt-out and feeling unfulfilled listen to their intuition to apply it in their daily lives. How are you helping others to tap into their intuition and let go of their mind anxieties?

The biggest tool to letting go of the mind and connecting to your intuition is being in thepresent moment. This may sound simple but its simplicity is a disguise. Presence is powerful and what it does is stop the momentum of mental programming. Mental programming is a natural part of us that enabled us to “survive” in our own circumstances. But it is also limiting. If you grew up around people with poor relationship skills, their behaviors went into your programming since you were at an age where you simply observed your surroundings and learned. What I do in a session is similar to what you might do in a yoga class. We start off by breathing and bringing our awareness to our bodies and do this for two hours straight. I bring you from the state of thinking and doing and into the state of being. Already, you feel a huge relief walking away from the anxious mind. A wave of relaxation enters your body and you begin to connect deeper into your inner voice of wisdom.

FWM: When was your “Wake-up Moment?”

When I realized that I had met my goals in my 20s, but I still didn’t feel happy. I still felt anxious and incomplete on the inside. I was “climbing a ladder” I did not want to be at the top of. All my actions were a result of my programming wanting to control life since my mind was so scared of the unknown. Once I started to open myself up to new plans and possibilities for myself, relief started to set in. I didn’t have to control everything! And I could trust the flow of life. I found that the peace and calm cultivated during a yoga session can be felt throughout life. I found that my intuition was speaking to me always. I also found that I could live a successful, productive, and fun life in a much easier way. When I live from a place of presence, the fear of the unknown, the ensurement of survival, and the need to be seen all fall away. Being in the present is its own reward.

FWM: What strengths do you bring to coaching?

The biggest benefit I have seen for my clients is how I don’t see their problems as real roadblocks. Because of my personal and professional experiences, I can take a bird’s eye perspective on everything and find a path forward. With this viewpoint, it enables me to hold my client’s hand and provide them gentle encouragement that it is safe for them to let go of whatever feels heavy.

FWM: Share your philosophy on the heart and mind relationship to well-being.

When clients start to work with me, they realize their minds don’t have to be the ones in charge anymore. But, we don’t have to let go of the mind completely! The mind is a perfect partner to the heart, where we find our joy and intuition. The heart leads the direction and the mind executes on the plan. The mind is great at taking action and that is exactly what it can help us do: take action on what brings us joy!

FWM: You recently wrote a book that was inspired by your teaching children yoga. Tell us about, “A Friendship Story: Heart & Mind.

This book is for teaching kids the function of their minds and of their hearts (intuition). It provides a lesson of how to create a partnership between a child’s unique intuitive spark and their mind so they can take positive action for a joyful and fun life.

FWM: What happens when children understand the inner workings of their heart and mind? What makes you an expert in this field?

Kids are smart and naturally intuitive. When they understand the partnership that theycan create between their hearts and mind, they won’t have to live in the hustle and grind way adults tend to fall into. They can continue to play and have fun but also learn and Create. They will be able to live productive lives not by sacrificing their joy but integrating their joy into work. Knowing that doing isn’t the precursor to fun – the fun is in the doing. They are not mutually exclusive. I taught a yoga workshop to an amazing group of kids where we discussed the purpose of yoga and why breathing and present-minded awareness (aka meditation) were essential to the practice. When we discussed breathing techniques and when to apply, they not only brought up times in yoga where they could let out a nice big lion’s breath, but also times in their day-to-day life when they maybe felt frustrated or impatient. This led me to create the story since I wanted to bring the lessons we all learned together in the workshop to kids around the world.

FWM: Share some of the powerful messages in your book.

My favorite quote from the book: “Enjoy where you are right now. Because right now is your greatest gift. That’s why we call it The Present.” Teaching kids about presence is so important! As they are learning about how to live in this world, I wanted to add in this lesson since it will serve them well lifelong.

FWM: Why was it important to include discussion questions and exercises at the end of the book?

This book is written as a story to engage the reader so the questions and exercises at the end are to help them reflect back on what they just read. This is a book a child can read over and over and every time, they will learn something new. The questions and exercises are there to support their learning.

FWM: You are the Director of Jess Lively’s Foundation. How have you helped others during the pandemic?

The Lively Community Foundation is a great organization that is spreading wellbeing through the global community. During the pandemic, we have offered free healing modalities (like hypnotherapy) to those who had contracted Covid-19, lost a loved one to the virus or was a first responder. We also have the Wellbeing Pages, a directory of free resources and sources to release trauma and enhance wellbeing.

FWM: What is next for you in 2021?

I’m working on a new online course on how to decipher your inner voice or intuition from the world’s noise. It will be a great starting point for people to be able to trust themselves. I also will start working with women who want to release cultural beliefs that have kept them from living their full potential. The diversity someone’s cultural heritage brings is beautiful however if it stops you from living the life you want, it can feel burdensome.
