Sharon Mathews has always been a leader. She was consistently Top Sales Woman for Worldwide Vacation Opportunities, a Travel Agency for the Timeshare industry. Sharon went on to own three successful call centers in the Timeshare industry over the years. She approached each sale and business with the same drive she did when she started 20 years ago.
Because of the passion, drive and love that Sharon has, for not only her business but for her employees, she is highly respected by anyone who crosses her path. Sadly, in the midst of Sharon’s highly successful business, her mother, whom she so dearly looked up to, was diagnosed with cancer.
This news shook Sharon and with her mother’s illness constantly looming over her, Sharon decided to sell her business and focus her time on her mother. Her mother passed away in 2016 and Sharon took some time away refocusing herself. During this time she dabbled in different markets. She was a Marketing Director and Events Coordinator for several night clubs in Florida and Georgia.
FWM: How have you created a footprint on the world?
I would like to believe that my footprint in this world are children and grandchildren. I have instilled my work ethic and beliefs into my children who have, in turn, instilled the same in their children. Each of them make this world a better place all by following my one simple rule–treat others as you would want to be treated.
FWM: What are your best characteristics?
Some of my best characteristics would be that I am hardworking, passionate, loyal and fair. I believe I have a great work ethic. I never ask from anyone something I wouldn’t do myself.
FWM: Did your upbringing determine your destiny?
Absolutely. Seeing my parents struggle to support my siblings and I, definitely had an impact on me. At a very young age, I made a promise to myself to work as hard as I possibly could for as long I as I can, to be able to provide for my family.
FWM: Share your sales and marketing career with us?
My career in marketing and sales has taken me in several different directions. I have owned three successful call centers in the Timeshare industry over the years. I have also worked in radio, television and print marketing. I utilized the on-air platform to market my vacation packages.
FWM: When did you decide to combine your marketing skills and film industry?
While I was working as a Marketing Director and Events Coordinator at a nightclub, I was approached by two producers who were on site for filming of “The Mob King”. They saw the passion and drive I had and thought I would be a great asset to their team. From that day forward, I combined my marketing skills and knowledge to help promote movies, find film locations and obtain donations for the films.
FWM: Tell us about the “The Mob King”, was it your first experience with film?
Yes it was. I was the location manager for the online TV series, “The Mob King”, handling locations, talent, and vehicles on some of the episodes, as well as acting liaison between the nightclub owners and directors/producers.
FWM: Tell us more about Antoni Corone’s “Stop Bullying Now” Foundation.
The “Stop Bullying Now” Foundation is an online platform used to help spread the word about bullying and its effect on others. There is a personal connection for myself and my family, with the foundation for me. My youngest son is Autistic and was bullied for many years because of it. So, when I was approached by Antoni Corone in regards to his foundation. I knew that this was my chance to make a difference.
FWM: What motivates you?
Mentoring and coaching others, helping them become the best version of themselves. I also enjoy learning new things, coming up with creative ideas and working as part of a team.
FWM: Why are you a Formidable Woman?
I believe that I am a Formidable Woman because I am respected by my colleagues and employees. People look to me for answers and guidance. I am loyal, honest, respectful and hardworking.
