What do you enjoy the most about being an entrepreneur?

I enjoy the fact that being an entrepreneur allows me to have a creative license over my business. I can try new things without having to answer to others.

You are a successful author and publisher of P.O.W.E.R. Magazine. Tell us about your magazine.

P.O.W.E.R. is a print and digital quarterly magazine featuring celebrities,
icons, and everyday hardworking women in all industries and professions. We showcase the stories of these amazing women to empower and inspire others to be the best they can be. We give them the opportunity to be recognized and receive the exposure they deserve. The magazine also includes a book corner, recipes, beauty and health tips, seasonal articles, as well as articles that relate to everyday women.

Who has been some of your favorite guests in your magazine?

Everyone I have featured has inspired me in some way. Bonnie Pointer from the legendary Pointer Sisters was a very important guest. She was our first cover girl with an amazing story and personality. Unfortunately, she recently passed away and will be missed by everyone. Susan Lucci was very personal to me because I met her when I was a teenager waitressing at a local ice cream parlor in Manhasset, NY. I was mesmerized by her and wanted her “diaper shorts” that were all the rage at the time. Olivia Newton-John, Jaclyn Smith, and Fran Drescher were all inspirational sharing their battles with cancer.

How is P.O.W.E.R. inspiring and empowering women today?

P.O.W.E.R. is both a magazine as well as an organization devoted to
highlighting the stories and achievements of successful and hardworking
women. It inspires and empowers women, letting them know that with hard work, perseverance, dedication, and a positive attitude, anything is possible. It also empowers women by allowing them to share their stories, assisting them with networking and connecting with like-minded professionals, offering mentoring, webinars, and recognizing some with awards.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of the fact that I started and grew a successful business that helps others to potentially achieve their goals.

Share your best advice for young women who want to launch a business.
 Are you sure you really want to start your own business?
 If yes, never give up and never allow somebody to tell you that you
can’t do it.
 Take advice from others, but at the end of the day, you have to make
the final decision and live with it.
 Be prepared for the financial ups and downs. Most new businesses
do not see a profit within the first three to five years.
 Surround yourself with employees you can trust.
 Do your homework regarding need and marketing
 Find a good mentor
